One dog, two cats and several fishes!
By Angeles Fernández
Oh, yes! All this began some 16 years ago. I always wanted to have a pet, well, honestly, a cat. My husband, that is, my boyfriend those days, was working in a different city, so I got the ideal situation to have a cat, as I thought about it as a pet I really needed to feel ok. We bought Julio ("July", in English), a Siamese cat. It was really great. But few years later, while going for a walk, we saw a nice kitten... So cute! We HAD to have it! So, there we were, with two cats! We got married and, 1 year and a half later, our son was born. The second cat's (Isis) behaviour was not very good, so my sister in law asked us to keep the cat with her. And years passed by... Some 5 years ago, on my birthday, I heard my son and husband get home, and my son told me: "Mom! Happy birthday! This present is for you! Isn't it cute???" Oh, My God! I didn't know if I should either cry, laugh or shout!! Or everything at the same time! It was a little kitten! So nice! This cat is still living with us. His name is Tulús. (Please, no comments about it!) And well, finally, let's say some 3 months ago, when I got home from work, without previous notice, I found a big, big aquarium, there, in the living room! I couldn't believe my eyes. I love it! But my first reaction was: (to my husband) "More pets? More pets? This house looks like a zoo!! And, who's going to take care of all this? I won't!" Well, that was my first reaction. Now that I know a little bit more about aquariums, it is a pleasure for us to have some minutes without TV, music or PC.. Just looking to those nice fishes, while our two cats and dog are peacefuly sleeping on the sofas, so close to us. (Final note: Both, my mother and my mother in law will never undestand all this about having pets at home!) |
